The Merrimac Light Department along with the Light Department Commissioners are pleased to announce that the two-year Capital Improvement project for Harriman Road and the Road Oak Acres has been completed.

This was a massive undertaking for our crew at Merrimac Light. The project started in the Spring of 2021 and was completed at the end of 2022. The cost of this project was approximately $110,000.

The project consisted of 24 new Class 2 40’ ft poles in place, 6.600 feet of Phase 3 spacer Hendrix size 336 covered wire and 8 new transformers as well as doing 1 mile of cable between Harriman Road and Red Oak Acres homes.

The purpose of this project is to create a more reliable electric service for the residents living in this community and ultimately create less power outages for the homeowners during storms. This project also increased the electrical voltage from 2400 volts to 13800/7970 volts.

Thank you for your patience while we worked hard to complete this project, without it, it wouldn’t have been possible for us to complete it.

Sincerely,
Mary Usovicz
General Manager
