We want to thank those that voted for the second year of Electrify Merrimac.
Please note that the state requires us to spend this funding towards improving energy efficiency in Merrimac. Instead of MMLD selecting the projects, we decided to utilize this method. We are pleased to report that the participation in the vote was very positive. We will be sending out nominations again next year. Please think of projects in your non-profit or town department. MMLD will keep you updated on our Facebook on status updates of both project.
Updated Lighting for Merrimac Public Library
Proposal to change out the remaining compact fluorescent down-lights in the library.
There are 26 – 6 inch lights and 35 – 8 inch lights that still need to be replaced to a new and more energy saving LED trim lights.
The new 6 inch LED trims will replace a 120 watt bulb for 19.5 watts and 1650 lumens.
The 8 inch LED trims adjusts in color tone and wattage from 10 to 24 watts with lumens up to 2500.
Cost: $7,491.00

Updated Lighting for the Merrimac Senior Center
Purchase and installation of LED lighting in our activity rooms. This is a continuation of a large project to replace all the lighting in our building. LED lighting throughout the building is more efficient, cost effective and provides better light for the older adults that utilize our building as dim light can make it harder to see especially for those that may have low vision issues.

Speed Alert Sign with Radar and Messages
The radar component detects vehicles approaching, activating the variable message board to display customized alerts aimed at encouraging safer driving behaviors. With its proactive approach to speed deterrence, this project aims to create a safer environment for residents and visitors alike. Committed to the well-being of our community, this solution prioritizes safety while promoting responsible driving habits.
Cost: $4,816
Project Duration: One year
EV Charging Station for the Senior Center
Proposal for the implementation of an EV charging station. This is due to a new electric van that the Senior Center expects to receive this year. An EV charging station at the COA would also be a benefit to the community as there are currently no EV charging stations in Merrimac.
Cost: $10,000 – $12,000
Project Duration: Two to three years
