We continue to receive questions from customers who expected to receive the monthly prompt-payment discount. We hope the following information helps clarify how the discount works.
To qualify, MMLD must receive your payment no later than the 15th of the month.
Please be aware that when you schedule a payment through your bank’s online bill-pay service, the bank may mail us a paper check instead of transferring the funds electronically. Even if the money is withdrawn from your account on the 14th—or the check is dated before the 15th—the payment may not reach us until several days later. If we receive it after the deadline, the discount cannot be applied.
To help ensure that you receive the discount, you may:
- Schedule bank bill-pay early—preferably by the first of the month—if your bank mails paper checks.
- Pay online at through the end of the day on the 15th.
- Mail your payment early enough to arrive by the 15th
- Bring your payment to our office at 10 West Main Street
- Use our 24-hour drop box. Payments deposited by 7:00 a.m. on the 16th will qualify for the discount.
- Please remember that the date written on a check does not determine eligibility; the discount is based on when MMLD receives the payment.
